Bethpage, NY – [April 18, 2025] – Brian J. McHugh, MD, is proud to accept his appointment as Section Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, New York. A board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in complex spinal surgery, minimally invasive techniques, spinal oncology, and scoliosis surgery, Dr. McHugh brings nationally recognized expertise to patients throughout the Bethpage area and beyond.
In this leadership role, Dr. McHugh will spearhead the continued development and expansion of neurosurgical services at St. Joseph Hospital, ensuring that patients have access to advanced surgical care close to home. His appointment marks a significant step forward in the hospital’s mission to provide the highest quality neurosurgical and spine care on Long Island.
Dr. McHugh completed his residency in neurosurgery at Yale University and fellowship training in minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal oncology and scoliosis surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He has held leadership positions throughout his career, including serving as Chief of Neurosurgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital and is currently also the Director of the Spine Program at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, NY.
